Fantasy Baseball Projections

Like in fantasy football, fantasy baseball projections in can be tough to predict. There are a couple different procedures to use when trying to project how each fantasy baseball player is going to perform during the season. There are three helpful factors which will help you decide what players to take and help you setup your fantasy baseball player rankings that you'll use when drafting.

  1. The first way to compile the fantasy baseball projections that you would like to use to determine your players is to check any one of the popular web sites available like Yahoo! Fantasy baseball or ESPN fantasy baseball. Sites like these will have their own experts that provide fantasy baseball information. In most cases, a three-year average is used to determine what type of statistics you can expect for the current year.
  2. Another tool in determining fantasy baseball projections is to investigate particular baseball players playing situations. If the player is on a new team, like outfielder Alfonso Soriano with the Chicago Cubs, how will his production increase or decrease? In this case, the home run and stolen base statistics should increase because Wrigley Field in Chicago is more of a hitter friendly ballpark. A player on a new team, like San Francisco Giants pitcher Barry Zito, could see his win total decrease because not a lot is expected of the team this year.
  3. If a fantasy baseball league owner wants to really put in some quality time and effort, that person could put together their own fantasy baseball projections together by position. One suggestion is to take the Top 100 fantasy baseball players and break them up into positions. Add the numbers up and divide the number by how many players fit into the category and use that number to determine what fantasy baseball player you are hoping to draft. In other words, don't take a player that isn't in the same statistical range as the average.

Of course, there really isn't an exact science to determining solid fantasy baseball projections. You can get a leg up on your competition though, by using the fantasy baseball software at Fantasy Baseball Starters.com and the Analyzer tools. These tool helps you set your hitting and pitching line-ups, so you know you'll always be starting the best option at each position.
